Junior Survivor Singles Tournament League Rules

Eligibility: The Survivor Singles Tournament League is a USBC-certified youth bowling league. It is open to any USBC-certified youth bowler. A USBC-Youth membership is required to participate.

Schedule: The league will bowl Saturdays at noon (check-in time starts at 11:30). League begins Saturday, September 12th. The league will break for high school bowling, with the last week being November 28th. The league will resume in March, with the final week being non-points championship tournament to determine the "Sole Survivor" in May.

Format and Rules: This is a singles, tournament-format league. Each week all bowlers will bowl a three (3) game qualifying series. The top eight (8) bowlers of this series, based on handicapped three games series score bowled in the qualifying round, will advance to a bracketed, single elimination championship round.

Placement: 8th place-the lowest losing score in the first bracket round. 7th place-the second lowest losing score in the first bracket round. 6th place-the second highest losing score in the first bracket round. 5th place-the highest losing score in the first bracket round. 4th place-the lowest losing score in the second bracket round. 3rd place-the highest losing score in the second bracket round. 2nd place-the loser of the championship bracket round. 1st place-the winner of the championship bracket round. 9th place through the balance of the field-3 game series score of the qualifying round. All bracket round ties will be broken by a 9th/10th frame roll off, then sudden death if necessary.

Cost: The cost per bowler is $12.00 per day. Breakdown: $8.00 for the cost of bowling, $3.00 for Smart Scholarships, and $1.00 for end of season tournament and party.

Handicap: The handicap used in this league will be based on 100% of a 225 average. Maximum handicap per game is 100 pins. Handicap will be applied starting the first week of participation by the bowler.

Attendance: Since this league uses a tournament format, bowlers are free to bowl 1 week, or all weeks in this league. The more the bowler chooses to participate in this league, the more Smart Scholarship money the bowler will earn. There is no pre-bowling or post-bowling in this league.

Scholarship Awards: Scholarships will be awarded to every bowler based on both participation and performance points earned. Points will be earned each week the bowler participates based on the following format:
Participation:     10 points                        5th place:         4 points
1st place:          20 points                        6th place:         3 points
2nd place:         15 points                        7th place:         2 points
3rd place:          10 points                        8th place:         1 point
4th place:          5 points

Plus, bowlers will earn 1 point for every bowler they finish ahead of in the Qualifying Series.

Example 1: You finish 10th of 25 bowlers in the qualifying round - you earn 10 points for participation, plus 15 points for finishing ahead of 15 other bowlers, for a total of 25 points earned that week.
Example 2: You finish 1st of 25 bowlers in the Qualifying Series, then finish 8th in the Bracket Round - you earn 10 points for participation, 25 points for finishing ahead of 25 bowlers in the Qualifying Series, and 1 point for finishing 8th in the Bracket Round, for a total of 36 points earned that week.

Points are based on placement and performance for each week of the league. The final week will be a Championship Tournament which is open to any bowler that participated in no less than 1/3 of the league, and will not affect the league standings or points. The more weeks you bowl, the more points you earn. The more points you earn, the more Smart Scholarship money you will receive.

100% of all scholarship funds won will be awarded. All of the collected scholarship funds will be sent to the Smart program for management and dispersal. Smart is the bonded scholarship service of the USBC.

Compliance: In the event of a dispute not specifically covered by our league rules, bowlers agree, by their voluntary participation in this league, to surrender to the authority of league management the right to settle all disputes, subject to USBC rules and what is deemed to be in the best interest of youth bowling and this league.
